A celebratory evening of the life and work of nationally-acclaimed poet Vernon Scannell (1922-2007). Scannell went to school at Queens Park and became one of the best-known war poets of the Second World War. The Michael Garrick Jazz Trio will perform, interspersed with readings of Scannell’s poems by several poets, including the nationally-known poet and anthologist, Anne Harvey. 2005 BBC Jazz Awards nominee, Michael Garrick, has been at the forefront of British Jazz for over forty years. This will be his first visit to the Limelight with his trio.
